Avalon Main
Avalon Main aircraft parking is divided into three sectors:
- North - primarily for invited aircraft, performers and large display aircraft. A small day visitor area is included.
- Centre - primarily for Exposition commercial exhibitors.
- South - primarily for military static displays and adjacent Charter aircraft area.
Hardstand
Hardstand parking at Avalon Main is limited. Accordingly, preference will be given to participant aircraft greater than 5700 Kg that cannot be parked on grass areas. Assigned hardstand positions will be displayed on the aircraft operators profile/forms.
Grass Parking Areas
General Aviation participant and day visitor aircraft will generally be parked on grassed areas. Participant aircraft selected by their Association as part of an Association static display will be directed to that area on arrival. All other participant aircraft will be parked sequentially (under marshaller supervision/assistance) on arrival: so if you wish to park with a friend, arrive with that friend! Day visitors will be parked in a separate area to participant aircraft.
Charter Aircraft
A discrete area has been set aside for charter operators using aircraft less than 5700Kg. The charter movement area has two areas – one for passenger unloading and loading and another for day time parking. Parking arrangements will enable aircraft to be parked without the requirement for towing/ground handling.
Avalon East
Avalon East has grass parking areas for up to 500 aircraft. Airshow marshallers will assist aircraft to park sequentially.
Aircraft remaining overnight will be directed to a separate area; advise this requirement after landing.
A passenger drop-off/pick-up area will be available at the passenger terminal area.
After securing your aircraft, proceed to the shuttle bus area at the passenger terminal area for free transport to Airshow Entrance area.
A photo of Avalon East will be available for viewing on this page after it is established – in late February 2009.
