Avalon East (YAVE) is a temporary unlicenced aircraft landing area (ALA) located approximately 2000 metres east of Avalon Main (YMAV) Runway 18/36 that is outside of the Avalon Airport boundary.
YAVE has two 1000 x 28 metre parallel grass runways, orientated north south, associated taxiways and parking areas
YAVE will be available for day only, VFR fixed-wing operations from Tuesday 1 – Sunday 6 March 2011. Arrivals and departures are essentially unrestricted except they MUST be daylight only. Arrival and Departure procedures are detailed in the Airshow 2011 AIRSUP.
From Thursday 4 – Sunday 6 March 2011, Charter aircraft with an operating weight below 5700kgs and capable of operating from YAVE may use the ALA for daylight operations. A Charter Terminal will be in operation over this time with regular shuttle bus service between YAVE and the main Airshow site.
There is ample parking (overnight is permitted); no landing or other charges apply and a free shuttle bus service will be available to transport aircraft occupants to and from the main Airshow site.
